CAMP CREATE!
I would like to invite all the Penny cast to participate in the summer arts program, Camp Create. This is my 20th year of directing the camp and I am every excited about the plans for this summer. Group and private voice lessons, Yoga and YogaSing, Acting, Scene Study, Creative Writing, Dance and a parent performance of the musical of the week are some of the activities. We also sing the Star Spangled Banner at the Blue Rocks game on June 28, July 12 or August 29. Guest artists include Miss Allyson, Miss Tabby, IVA, Pete Olsen and Jordan Mizrahi. For more information go to TheAwakeningArts.com and go to the Camp Create page. This will give you more information and lead you to the website (which is under construction) but allows you to register online.
The Awakening Arts Studio is a place filled with children, music, art, dance, drama, caring parents, creativity and yoga. Each student is encouraged to stretch both mentally and physically and valued for their own unique energy they bring to weekly lessons.
Through the past 25 years of teaching, I have learned that each student is in my studio at that specific time in their life for a purpose. Sometimes that purpose is simply to learn to play the piano or sing, but more often, there is another gift waiting to be brought into the light. I feel honored to be a part of this musical process and to help awaken the artist within!
I have my Masters Degree in Voice from the University of Maryland and have 20 years performing experience with the Washington National Opera at the Kennedy Center. Weekly lessons, summer camps and workshops with guest artists are all a part of the Awakening Arts Studio.
